Seen as I’m home and bored out of my mind I have become a complete self-confessed YouTube addict. You start looking for something and before you know it you find yourself watching a video you would never have ended up looking for in the first place. The casual, let’s look at the trailer for the next season of Home and Away and before you know it, you end up crying your eyeballs out watching someone you wouldn’t even recognise in the street giving birth to their new baby boy. (yes I am random like that)
Upon one of those moments I stumbled upon the trailer for the movie “The little prince”. Most of you know what I’m talking about but for those who don’t it’s based upon the book “The little prince” or as I know “Le petit prince”. It is basically about a little boy from a asteroid B-612, who leaves his rose behind on his asteroid and upon meeting different kinds of adults finds himself not only confused but also missing his rose. The little prince realizes that, even though there are many roses on the other planets he visits, his love for his rose makes her unique and that he is therefore responsible for her.
This has to be one of my all time favorites for many reasons. I had left this book untouched but never forgotten in my bookcase. Upon seeing the trailer I decided to start reading it again. The more I’m reading, the more amazed I am at the absolute truth this book holds. If ever in doubt about a situation, if you’ve lost all perspective on what is important in life, I urge you to read this book. Only yesterday I put a quote on instagram stating: “Drunk people, children and leggings always tell the truth”. We all still have our inner child and although we grow up and might lose our sense of what is truly important in life, all we need to do is look inside and the truth is right there, but you have to want to face it.
My favorite quote by far has to be: “She cast her fragrance and her radiance over me. I ought never to have run away from her.. I ought to have guessed all the affection that lay behind her poor little stratagems. Flowers are so inconsistent! But I was too young to know how to love her..”
